General Update

Well it's good news, Amazon have price matched Evolution and is now Free on their US site. The UK store so far have not price matched, but I'm still hoping they will.

Barnes & Nobles downloads for Evolution have been going well considering for the first 2 weeks approximately, there was no book description and when they finally did put one up, it was for someone else's book and it was erotica! Thankfully this didn't change the sales rank too much, and was quickly rectified by B&N with Evolution's actual book description.

I am still waiting for Tormented to be uploaded to Barnes & Noble, which should hopefully not be too much longer as Smashwords shipped it to them almost 2 weeks ago.

I still haven't decided what I am going to do about Apple as I am waiting on the Australia Tax Office (ATO) to provide me written verification about a GST (Goods & Service Tax) issue that I might run into. I'm hoping to have a reply back from the ATO this week so I can finally make my decision on how to publish with Apple.

Evolution is Free at Barnes & Noble

Evolution is now live and Free on Barnes & NobleSmashwords and Diesel. Unfortunately I am unable to make Evolution free on Amazon as well. A permanently free book on their site is only made that way at their discretion - a few notifications from customers advising on their 'Tell us about a lower price' link that it is free on Barnes & Noble may also help sway their decision.

There has been a bit of a hiccup with Evolution's book description which has not been loaded on Barnes & Noble, and there is nothing I can do about it for now as per Smashwords policy - they will not notify B&N until it has been that way for 2 weeks and then it could take another week or so to rectify. So in the meantime customers seem to be downloading the book on the cover picture alone - the fact that it's free may also have something to do with it, but I'd like to think it's the cover.

As for iBooks, I am trying to decide if I should publish directly or through Smashwords, as Apple Australia require that I register for GST which is a whole other issue, and I'm not sure if it is worth doing or to just go with Smashwords. Decisions, decisions - it's all doing my head in!

Tormented is now live on Smashwords, and is still sitting in the 'pending review' to be approved to be sent to Barnes & Noble ect. I will do another post when Tormented is live on B&N, and until then, I will cross my fingers that Amazon price match and make Evolution Free as well.

Cover Reveal & Release Date

I am so excited to finally be able to reveal Tormented's cover. I have to say a big thank you to Robyn from Book Cover Design Services for another awesome cover - she is absolutely brilliant & always surpasses my expectations!!

Now for the release date, Tormented will be live on Amazon on 19th October 2012. I am also hoping to have both books up on Smashwords, Barnes & Noble, iTunes ect. as soon as possible - considering I'm in Australia & some of these sites require US bank accounts, I'm not sure how long it will take for both Evolution & Tormented to become live but I'm hoping (& crossing fingers & toes) it won't be too long.

Tormented Teaser

Anna opened her mouth to say something, but no words came out. I looked over at Aiden, who was still standing back, too afraid to come anywhere near me. I didn’t blame him. I wanted to crawl out of my skin and get as far away from me as possible too.

The blood felt as if it were slowly seeping into my skin. I had to get it off. And the fastest way I could think to do that was to drench myself in a pool of water.

Unable to look at myself anymore, I closed my eyes and transported outside their house and into the lake. The ice-cold water pierced my skin, washing away all traces of what had happened upstairs. When I looked around, the water had turned a crimson red, and I felt as though I was right back to square one. Except the blood was all over me. Diluted yes, but still all over me.

I swam back towards the pier, trying to escape the bloodied water that surrounded me. By the time I had reached the metal ladder up to the pier, I was sure that I had escaped the blood. I climbed up the ladder and stepped onto the wooden planks.

Aiden was standing in front of me, holding a towel outstretched in his arms. “You know you could’ve just used another shower."

A few days have passed since Evolution was free for a day, and the number of downloads completely exceeded my expectations. The sales have also been steadily growing with each passing day.
I also received my first couple of reviews and they were both five star!!
Now it's time for me to revert my attention back to writing the second instalment in the series, which so far I have 11k words.

Sunday, 6 May 2012

Just over an hour ago, Evolution started it's free promotion period on Amazon.
So far the downloads have surpassed my expectations - I have even cracked the european market which I so did not expect.
It will be interesting to see what the end result will be, and whether that will drive up sales in the following days, and hopefully a few reviews - one can only hope...

Ragdoll cat deception

This morning I was trying to think of something profound to say about my novel Evolution that was published a couple of days ago, but for the life of me, I can't think of anything but my psycho cat!
A few months ago we bought a Ragdoll kitten with Champion blood lines, from an award winning breeder as we had been told that they are the dog of the cat world.
They are supposed to be nothing but affectionate, loving cats that will go limp when you pick them up - hence the name Ragdoll.
Well I must have got the odd one out. Sure he has his loving times (which I cherish), but then he has a dark side that sometimes outweighs the good. Like this morning he attacked me on 3 separate occasions & 'time out' did nothing to alter his ferrel mood - and when I say attacked, I mean blood was drawn each time.
After reading multiple forums, I have discovered I am not alone. And yet, they are continuously promoted as the cat that will NEVER do that.
